Bam Aquino appeals to voters to bring ‘balance’ to Senate

/ 06:20 AM May 16, 2018

There must be “balance” in the Senate composition after the 2019 elections, according to Sen. Bam Aquino, who expressed lament on Monday at being the lone opposition member who made it to the so-called Magic 12 in results of preelection surveys.

Aquino, who is running for reelection, said people should “strengthen the independence of the Senate” by electing candidates “who are not afraid to oppose the administration.”

Aquino, who was ranked 11th in a Social Weather Stations survey of voter preference for the senatorial race, is among only four Liberal Party (LP) senators who did not join the majority.
