LAMITAN CITY – A fistfight broke out in a voting precinct in Campo Uno here on Monday.

Voter Raffy Ismael said he was waiting to cast his vote in his precinct when a group of voters approached him and threw punches at him. When he tried to get up, he said two men hit him on the face. One of them was identified as Aksan Malang.

Basilan Election Supervisor Roberto dela Peña urged the Ismael to file a complaint. Other than the brawl, he said no other major incident has been reported so far.

More than 230,000 registered voters are participating in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in the island province of Basilan. /ee
