LOOK: Garbage left by voters at polling center in PH largest barangay
Garbage, mostly campaign materials, were left scattered inside and outside school grounds, barely two hours before polling precincts close in Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City- the largest barangay (village) in the country.
Bagong Silang Elementary School Principal Nimfa Narcise reminded voters to refrain from throwing trash around the school.
School guards are also on the lookout in front of the school entrance to warn people against bringing in prohibited campaign materials such as sample ballots with the names of real candidates.
But some still managed to slip in these illegal materials.
Earlier, Commission on Elections Spokesperson James Jimenez said distribution of sample ballots with the names of real candidates on election day is illegal and is considered a form of campaigning.
Jimenez said this practice is banned regardless of the proximity of ballot distribution from the polling centers.
