Bustos, Bulacan section of Plaridel Bypass Road opens on May 5
BUSTOS, BULACAN – The opening of the Plaridel Bypass Road section, traversing the Bulacan towns of Bustos and San Rafael, has been moved to Saturday (May 5), instead of the next two weeks, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced on Thursday (May 3).
This weekend, motorists bound for eastern Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and parts of Cagayan Valley may drive through the newly completed 10-kilometer stretch of the bypass road, which connects the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) to the Maharlika Highway, said Virgilio Castillo, DPWH director of the Roads Management Cluster 1 Unified Project Management Office.
This road section represent the last phase of the 24.61-km bypass road project, which was inaugurated on April 30.
Castillo said the newly completed portions of the bypass road still requires some clean-up, which should not hamper traffic. DPWH contractors completed the first 14.65 kms of the project in 2012.
Castillo said the bypass road stretches through the towns of Balagtas, Guiguinto, Plaridel, Bustos and San Rafael, cutting travel time from Manila to eastern Bulacan by 40 to 45 minutes.
To take the bypass road, motorists must drive through NLEx’s Balagtas exit.
