Batangas cop nabbed for violating gun ban

SAN PEDRO CITY – A policeman assigned in Lemery town in Batangas province was arrested for threatening residents by firing his gun, the police regional office said on Saturday.

A report from the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon (Calabarzon) police said Police Officer 2 Leon Garcia was arrested by his fellow policemen around 8 p.m. Friday in Barangay (village) Matingain 2, after residents reported him for indiscriminately firing his gun.

The report added that Garcia was drunk when he threatened residents.

Aside from indiscriminate firing, the policeman faced charges for violating the gun ban in relation to the May 14 village elections.
