Man shot dead in Pagadian despite poll gun ban

PAGADIAN CITY – Despite the enforcement of the gun ban in the country for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls, a 23-year old man was shot dead around 10:25 p.m. here on Monday.

The victim was identified by Senior Inspector Odessa Yaral as Ramil Looc Tagalog, a resident of Purok Tisa in Barangay Balintawak.

Yaral said Tagalog was with three other persons at the boulevard in Purok Upo Uno in Barangay Balintawak when two men aboard a motorcycle appeared. One of the suspects then opened fire at Tagalog with a handgun.

Tagalog died from a single gunshot wound to the head, police said.

Meanwhile, Zamboanga del Sur police director, Senior Superintendent John Guyguyon said the shooting was not election-related.

Pagadian City police chief, Superintendent Benito Recopuerto said probers have yet to identify the suspects as well as determine the motive behind the shooting.   /muf
