Barangay chairman gunned down in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – A barangay (village) chairman in was shot dead by gunmen riding-in-tandem in Mulanay town in Quezon province Saturday night, police said.

A police report said Domingo Ruedas, 54, chairman of Barangay Cambuga, was inside his store built at his residence at about 7:20 p.m. when a man in a mask got off a motorcycle and repeatedly shot him with a pistol, killing him instantly.

The gunman then escaped on a Suzuki motorcycle driven by a cohort.

Police described the gunman as medium built, with brown complexion, curly hair and wearing a black t-shirt and denim pants. The motorcycle driver was sporting a black jacket and had a crash helmet.

Chief Insp. Bonna Obmerga, Mulanay police chief, said they were still trying to identify the killers and establish their motive. /cbb
