Duterte says Albayalde will be next PNP chief
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde will be the next chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Thursday.
“Albayalde is the man for you. The stricter the better,” the President said in his speech during the awarding of outstanding farmers, fisherfolks, and coastal communities in Malacañang.
‘That’s why I told Crame may bago tayong chief [PNP]. I’m going to announce it now, it’s Albayalde,” the President added in his speech.
President Duterte said he chose Albayalde as the next PNP chief over two other police officials.
“Si Albayalde lang sa PNP. Kasi tinatanong ko ‘yung mga taga-Davao. I mentioned two other names. Sabi nila, “‘Yan sir, mahusay ‘yan, sir, mabait,” he said.

The President said his first directive to Albayalde was to expand jails so he could place more criminals in prison.
He even joked not to buy food for the inmates.
“Sabi ko sa kanya na lakihan mo ‘yung presuhan mo kasi isaksak ko lahat kayo diyan. Huwag kayong bumili ng pagkain kasi huwag ninyong pakainin ‘yung…Sila ang magbili ng sarili nilang pagkain,” he said. /muf
