/ 01:26 PM April 04, 2018

Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno will be attending the Supreme Court’s oral arguments on the quo warranto petition filed against her by Solicitor General Jose Calida.

“Yes. She will attend the oral argument on April 10 to give her side on the Petition for Quo Warranto filed by SolGen Calida,” Sereno’s spokesperson Atty. Jojo Lacanilao, said in a text message Wednesday.

A quo warranto is a petition filed to oust an unqualified government official.

Calida believes that Sereno’s non-compliance with the requirement to submit her statement of assets, liabilities and networth (SALN) has invalidated her appointment as chief justice.

The High Court has set the case for oral argument on April 10 on the request of the Chief Justice herself.     /muf
