Fisherman dies after touching live wire in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY – A 23-year old fisherman died after his paddle touched a dangling live wire of the Zamboanga del Sur Electric Coop (Zamsureco) in Barangay White Beach here on Monday.

Nurkhan Alibasa Acalal died on the spot due to electric shock.

Acalal tried to push the wire up using his still wet paddle and was electrocuted in the process, according to Superintendent Benito Recopuerto, city police chief.

The fisherman suffered multiple burns and died, Recopuerto said.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod on Tuesday have asked Zamsureco to check and fix dangling electric cables in various areas of the city following the incident. LEAH AGONOY
