The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) on Thursday kicked off its scheduled maintenance operations for the entire LRT Line 2, taking advantage of the lenten break.

The LRT’s operations were temporarily halted beginning Maundy Thursday (March 29) to Easter Sunday (April 1) to give way for maintenance works.

In an advisory, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said that LRT-2 maintenance personnel were tasked to facilitate improvements from train coaches to rail tracks, electrical system and train station facilities.

The DOTr said this was being implemented to “increase capacity and ensure a safer, more convenient, and comfortable commuter experience.” /jpv
