The Land Transportation Franchise and Regulatory Board (LFTRB) on Wednesday assured that thousands of Uber operators and drivers’ franchise would be processed as they transfer their operations under ride-hailing application, Grab.

LTFRB Board Member Atty. Aileen Lizada said that the drivers would be processed as long as they are in the agency’s masterlist of TNVS operators and drivers.

“Rest assured the LTFRB will process those who are in the master list, wala po dapat [ipangamba] o to worry ang TNVS [drivers] ng Uber (Uber drivers should not be worried),” Lizada said in a press conference at Grab’s processing center at Mega Tent, Libis, Quezon City.

“We will see to it that we will be processing; that is why we are in close coordination with Grab,” she added.

Thousands of Uber partner-drivers are in the process of transition following Grab’s acquisition of Uber’s Southeast Asia operations, effectively monopolizing the TNVS sector in the country.

Drivers are trying to finish their transfer before April 8, the day Uber application goes offline.

Grab Philippines head Brian Cu said the merger would result in the migration of some 20,000 to 24,000 drivers from Uber.

Lizada said the LTFRB now issues a generic franchise to drivers and operators to allow them to become affiliates of other TNVS platforms.

Currently, the LTFRB is trying to fill up the common base supply of 65,000, which represents 75 percent of all ride-hailing app’s bookings, the official said.

Lizada said that Uber drivers can go to the LTFRB if they would like to check if their names are already in the master list.

They should bring the following requirements: the verified application, proof of Filipino citizenship, any government ID, OR/CR, and the operator’s data sheet. /je
