/ 06:15 AM March 16, 2018

Members of the Quezon City Police District killed a suspected drug peddler and wounded one of the men allegedly having a “shabu” (crystal meth) session inside his house, in a buy-bust operation that they said ended in a “shootout” on Wednesday night.

A report to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, QCPD director, said a poseur buyer met with Abdul Aziz Daimon on Lower Jasmin Street, Area A, in Barangay Payatas, around 11:50 p.m.

The 29-year-old Daimon “noticed” that the buyer was an undercover cop and immediately ran to his house nearby, the report said.

Members of the QCPD’s Batasan station followed him to the house and caught four more men—Xander dela Cruz, 18; Michael Mahinay, 37; Rizen Sobrepena, 23; and Nazeer Sindato—having a drug session.

Dela Cruz allegedly drew a .38-caliber revolver, prompting police to fire at him, wounding his right hand and chest.

By then, Daimon had gotten hold of a shotgun but “misfired” when he pulled the trigger. He was shot several times and died later in the hospital.

The QCPD said 15 sachets of shabu and the two guns were recovered from the suspects. As of press time, Dela Cruz was still being treated at the hospital, while Mahinay and Sobrepena remained in detention. Sindato was able to escape.

According to Supt. Rossel Cejas, Batasan station commander, Daimon was on the QCPD’s watch list of suspected drug offenders and arrested in 2016 for drug possession.

Daimon’s death followed the March 2 shooting of 18-year-old Bryan Montawan, was also killed by the QC police reportedly after he tried to evade arrest during a drug bust in Pasong Tamo.
