PNP probes killing of Parojinog kin in Ozamiz
ILIGAN CITY—Police authorities in Ozamiz City said Thursday that they were still investigating the killing of a cousin of slain mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr.
Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido, the Ozamiz police chief, said the identity and motive of the armed men that shot dead Sandy Daroy, 39, on Monday remained unclear.
Daroy, whose mother was the sister of Parojinog’s mother, was in Purok Malinawon in Barangay Tinago in Ozamiz City when shot dead.
Espenido said the suspects casually walked away after killing the victim.
He said what the police had found so far was that Daroy’s father, whom he identified only as Boy, was also known as a drug lord in the city.

The source identified him as among Parojinog’s trusted men but ran a separate drug business in Ozamiz City.
Parojinog was killed, along with over a dozen others, during a bloody police raid in Ozamiz City on July 30.
His daughter, Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog, and her brother Reynaldo Jr., were also arrested following the alleged discovery of half a kilo of shabu in their home. /jpv
