Firewood gatherer hit by stray bullet in Lucban forest

LUCENA CITY–A stray bullet hit a farmer while he was gathering firewood in a forest in Lucban town, Quezon province on Tuesday.

Ronualdo Layron, 32, and his brother Marjon, were gathering firewood in a forested area in Barangay Ayuti around 5:30 p.m. when a gunshot was fired from a distance, a report from the Quezon police said.

After the gunshot, Marjon saw his bloodied sibling lying on the grass.

Ronualdo’s family rushed him to the hospital for treatment of two bullet wounds on his back and upper right chest, where the bullet entered and exited.

Police were conducting an investigation to identify the culprit.
