MAN MAULED, STABBED IN LAPU

A 21-YEAR-OLD man was mauled and stabbed by a group of youngsters while he was heading home in barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, at dawn yesterday.

Donald Reyes sustained stab wounds and bruises in the body.

Police said Reyes came from a drinking session with friends when the attack occurred.

Reyes decided to go home ahead of his friends. He was driving his bicycle when a group of youngsters blocked his path.

Reyes told police that someone hit his back with a hard object before he was lynched.

Reyes managed to run and sought help from his friends, who rushed him to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital. He was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

Police conducted a follow-up operation but failed to locate the youngsters involved in the incident.

MAN WITH SHABU NABBED

A 50-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after police found him carrying packs of suspected shabu in barangay Bangbang, Cordova town, off Mactan Island, Cebu.

Carlos Tajanlangit allegedly yielded eight packs of suspected shabu when frisked by police.

Police conducting a saturation drive in the barangay spotted Tajanlangit acting suspiciously while talking to two men.

Tajanlangit was seen handing something to the two men.

PO2 Charlie Valmoria and PO2 Harry Phil Espinosa approached Tajanlangit. The two other men ran.

Upon inspection, the two policemen found the suspected packs from Tajanlangit, who was later brought to the police precinct.

Each pack of suspected shabu was worth P300, said police.

Appropriate charges will be filed against Reyes, said police./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

WOMAN FALLS IN BUY-BUST

A WOMAN was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Ermita, Cebu City, shortly before midnight yesterday.

Twenty-eight packs of suspected shabu were recovered from Celsa Tejada Olalo, 43, said police.

Police also seized P3,000 cash believed to be proceeds of the woman’s alleged illegal activities.

Olalo refused to comment on her arrest.
