Sereno: ‘This indefinite leave is not a resignation’

Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno dispelled speculations on Thursday that her indefinite leave is a prelude to a resignation.

Sereno maintained that: “I have not resigned and I will not resign.”

“This indefinite leave is not a resignation. I will devote my time to the preparation of my Senate defense and work on the cases in my docket,” she also said in a statement.

Sereno’s indefinite leave would begin March 1 amid the looming impeachment trial against her at the Senate, which would become an impeachment court. /kga
