LTFRB’s 65,000 Uber, Grab cap is not enough, says Poe

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s (LTFRB) 65,000 cap on the number of Uber and Grab vehicles in Metro Manila is not enough, Senator Grace Poe said Thursday.

“Alam mo ang totoo niyan kulang pa rin talaga. Marami pa rin ang nagrereklamo na hindi sapat yung serbisyo dahil kulang nga ng transportasyon,” Poe, chair of Senate public services committee, said in an interview after their hearing.

But she said LTFRB Chair Martin Delgra III had assured that they would accept more applicants once the 65,000 vehicles have been registered.

“Pero sa ngayon payagan na muna natin na mairehistro na ang mga yan at saka natin buksan ulit. Ang malinaw dito, sinabi ni Chairman Delgra na after i-register nila yung 65,000 at may kakulangan, bubuksan naman nila uli,” she said.

“Kaya lang ang dami kasing colorum ngayon na hindi pa narerehistro so unahin na natin na i-rehistro ang mga iyon,” she added.

Last Monday, the LTFRB adjusted the number of transport network vehicle services (TNVS) cap from 45,700 cars to 66,750.

Metro Manila got the share of 65,000 cars, while Metro Cebu and Pampanga province were allocated 1,500 and 250 cars, respectively. /je
