Help sought for 3-year-old girl with 2nd tumor growth
After completing eight cycles of chemotherapy for ovarian yolk sac tumor, Fatima Ivy Rodriguez is again undergoing treatment for another tumor growth.
“She must take Etoposide every day for 21 days for six months. She has already completed three cycles. Doctors told us that two successive operations might be dangerous for her because [the tumor] is near her lungs and spine,” said Fatima’s mother, Ginalyn Doria.
Three-year-old Fatima was supposed to have her fourth chemo cycle on Feb. 9 at Philippine General Hospital, but it did not push through due to her severe abdominal pain that day.
As a result, her immune system weakened while her potassium level alarmingly dropped.
Ginalyn and her husband, Mark Christopher, a tricycle driver in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan, are appealing to Inquirer readers for assistance.
