2 Davao cops held for hurting kids
DAVAO CITY—Two policemen who allegedly beat up three minors here have been placed under “restrictive custody” as Mayor Sara Duterte ordered an investigation of the incident.
Duterte warned the police that while minors committing crimes should be taken into custody, force should not be used against them unless they chose to fight.
“We have been reminding our police officers to exercise self-restraint,” Duterte said.
The minors, all of them 17 years old, reportedly violated the city’s curfew ordinance and were involved in riots.
Senior Insp. Ma. Teresita Gaspan, city police spokesperson, did not name the policemen involved in the incident.
