Fire hits residential compound in Makati City

A residential compound was gutted by  fire in Makati City just an hour after the new year.

Investigator FO1 Lester John Batalla said the fire started around 1:30 a.m. at the second story of a residential compound at the corner of Coronado and Progreso Streets in Barangay Guadalupe Viejo.

The fire was finally put out at 2:30 a.m. Batalla said the second floor of the house served as sleeping quarters of around 40 drivers and porters, but only four were present when the fire started as most were in the provinces.

Damage was estimated at P150,000. —Dexter Cabalza
