Black Nazarene back in Quiapo Church after 8-hour procession

A total of 31 devotees were given medical assistance during the thanksgiving procession of the Black Nazarene on Sunday midnight.

The devotees, who flocked to Plaza Miranda and Quezon Boulevard, suffered minor injuries while others fainted due to high blood pressure, Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported.

Medical teams around the area immediately responded to the cases.

About 250,000 devotees participated in the thanksgiving procession that started at about 2 a.m. and ended at 10:31 a.m.

The Black Nazarene will be taken out again of Quiapo Church on Jan. 9 for the anniversary of the Traslacion, which commemorates the transfer of the image of the Suffering Jesus from Intramuros to its present shrine.

Every year, the iconic image leaves its home three times: Jan. 9, Good Friday, and on Dec. 31. /cbb
