Lanao del Norte locals evacuate anew due to flooding

/ 01:41 PM December 31, 2017

ILIGAN CITY–Fresh evacuations took place in Lanao del Norte even as officials were still grappling with the large number of people displaced when Severe Tropical Storm Vinta made landfall on Dec. 22.

The exact number of people displaced had not been ascertained yet, according to provincial risk reduction and management officer Abeliza Manzano.

Gov. Imelda Dimaporo said the fresh evacuation was triggered by another flood that hit Kolambugan and Tubod towns–two areas previously devastated by Vinta–on Saturday evening.

Dimaporo said unlike in the floods and slides that Vinta had triggered and killed 117 individuals, no casualty was reported from last night’s flooding. /jpv
