Senator JV Ejercito chided the Zamoras, his family’s “local adversaries,” as he hinted they were behind a bomb scare near a plaza in San Juan City, where a concert organized by the senator would be held.

“Happening tonight at the Plaza in San Juan! May bomb threat pa! Too much of a coincidence? Desperate moves by local adversaries! Ayaw tumigil. Pero tuloy ang rakrakan!” Ejercito wrote in a Twitter post on Tuesday afternoon.

When asked in a text message who was he referring to in his tweet, Ejercito told INQUIRER.net: “Zamoras.”

“San Juan used to be a quiet place. Peaceful and there was unity. Zamoras changed all of that. They have been using money and power to change political landscape with the aim of perpetrating themselves into power,” he said.

The senator also slammed as “too much of a coincidence” the said bomb threat.

“The bomb threat in San Juan near the Plaza was too much of a coincidence because there is a concert tonight organized by me for the youth,” he said.

In a tweet by the Philippine Red Cross, they said they responded to a bomb threat incident at Puregold Agora, San Juan City after a suspicious bag was left at the supermarket’s entrance. They later verified there were no explosives inside the bag.

Last Dec. 14, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) granted the petition to hold a recall election against Ejercito’s mother, Guia Gomez, who won as San Juan mayor over former San Juan Vice Mayor Francis Zamora by around 1,000 votes.

Meanwhile, Zamora downplayed as “absolutely absurd and hilarious” the accusations against him and his family.

“Yes I am aware that Sen JV is accusing me of the bomb threat in San Juan. This is absolutely absurd and hilarious!” Zamora, who is currently in Hong Kong with his wife and four children, said in a text message to INQUIRER.net on Tuesday.

“First of all, I am just a private citizen, I don’t have any power or authority to make such bomb threats or similar acts, as opposed to them, they are in power, he is a senator, his mother is the mayor of San Juan and his father a former president of the Philippines and currently the mayor of Manila,” he added. /je
