Durabend secures last final seat in UAB hoop

AFTER four long months, the United Architects Basketball Club Corporate Cup has nearly reached its conclusion as there are only two teams remaining. This after reigning champions Durabend snatched the last finals ticket after outlasting Boysen, 94-91, in their winner-take-all semifinal game over the weekend at the Cebu Eastern College gym.

Durabend will face top-seeded Unitec in the best-of-three finals series which starts this Sunday at the same venue. Durabend had to sweat it out against Boysen which pushed them to the deciding game after winning the opening match, 66-64. Durabend had a twice-to-beat advantage by virtue of their better record after the triple round-robin elimination round.

The champions turned to MVP Elmer Laguna and power forward Jay Radomes, both of whom ruled the shaded lane against the small frontline of Boysen. Laguna had 25 points while Radomes added 22 to offset the 38-point performance of Boysen’s Michael Cinco.
