Duterte to allocate P100-M medicine subsidy for soldiers

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he would allocate P100 million every month to subsidize the medicines of soldiers.

Duterte said he would allocate P50 million each to two military hospitals.

“I will subsidize ‘yung medicines, especially those who are…well, they need the management for bills. It’s P50 million monthly para sa AFP. Pati P50 million sa V. Luna,” he said  in a speech during the 82nd anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Quezon City.

The President was referring to the AFP Medical Centre in Quezon City also known as the V. Luna General Hospital. It was unclear, however, what was the other hospital he was referring to.

He assured soldiers that there’s always a “ready money” especially for retired soldiers who need medication.

“For those who are retired, I know that you have medicines to take, management for all the kind of ailment that a soldier suffers when he retires. Kasi baka hindi niyo alam ‘yan, there’s always the ready money. I’m going to deliver it right after this ceremony,” he said.

The President went to the AFP Medical Center in Quezon City after his event at Camp Aguinaldo to turn over part of the subsidy.
