‘Vinta’ coming
The low pressure area east of Mindanao that the state weather bureau has been monitoring the past few days has entered the Philippine area of responsibility yesterday noon, morphing into Tropical Depression “Vinta.”
As of late afternoon yesterday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) estimated the center of “Vinta” to be still at sea 735 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
Storm Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over Surigao del Sur and the northern part of another province, Davao Oriental.
Vinta was expected to make landfall in the Caraga or Davao region between evening today and until tomorrow morning. —JAYMEE T. GAMIL
