Pasig gov’t launches green bus service
The Pasig City government on Monday launched the operation of 10 environment-friendly buses that will provide rides from Barangay Pinagbuhatan to the city hall and vice versa.
For city hall employees, the buses will ply four routes and are available from 6 to 8:30 a.m., and from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
They will be open to other commuters from 9 to 10 a.m. and from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
The 10 air-conditioned buses were acquired by the local government at P3 million to P3.2 million each.
The rides will be free of charge for the first two months, after which a “P5 environmental fee” will be charged per passenger, according to Racquel Naciongayo, chief of the city’s environment office. –Jodee A. Agoncillo
