The operations of the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT 3) were disrupted yet again on Sunday, forcing the evacuation of 686 passengers in a northbound train.

MRT 3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said that the passengers had to be offloaded between the Ortigas and Santolan stations at 2:47 p.m. after they reported smelling something burning.

They were forced to alight and walk on the tracks toward Santolan station.

In a statement, Narvaez explained that an initial report said the burnt smell might have been due to “regulator failure.”

“There might have been burnt regulator cards which control the flow of current to our motor,” she said. –Jerome Aning
