Robber shot dead

An alleged holdup man was killed after he tried to rob an off-duty police officer in Pasig City on Saturday night.

PO1 Lester Galong of the Pasig Police Community Precinct 4 was on his way home on his motorcycle when three men blocked his path on Javier Bridge in Barangay Maybunga at 11:30 p.m.

In a report forwarded to Pasig police chief Senior Supt. Orlando Yebra, the suspects declared a holdup and Galong introduced himself as a police officers.

Two of the suspects ran away, but the third man, who remained unidentified, punched him and tried to stab him with a knife, prompting Galong to shoot him. –Dexter Cabalza
