/ 05:04 AM November 28, 2017

National Biotechnology Week is observed every last week of November by virtue of Proclamation No. 1414 signed on Nov. 9, 2007, by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. According to the proclamation, it is the policy of the government to promote safe and responsible use of modern biotechnology and its products as one of several means to achieve and sustain food security, equitable access to health services, a sustainable and safe environment, and industry development. —MARIELLE MEDINA, INQUIRER RESEARCH
