Roque to Reds: ‘Move on’
DAVAO CITY – Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque has called on communist rebels to “move on” and abandon the decades-old insurgency even as he assailed them for calling President Rodrigo Duterte a “political swindler.”
On Monday, Roque said Mr. Duterte has even given much to the rebels by supporting their allied party-list groups and appointing leftists to his Cabinet.
“I would not even dignify the name calling,” the presidential spokesperson said.
He lamented the communists have been at war with the government for so long that it could “land on the Guinness Book of World Records” while China and other communist countries are becoming capitalist nations.
“Ano ba ‘yan? Kailangang umusad na. Move on na kayo,” Roque said.
He said the Mr. Duterte is not indebted to the communists but it was the leftist rebels who are the ones betraying the Chief Executive by attacking government forces. /kga
