Did You Know: October is Local Government Month

October and the second week of this month are declared Local Government Month and Local Government Week under Proclamation No. 63, which was signed Oct. 2, 1992, by then President Fidel Ramos.

The proclamation recognizes the contribution of local government units in nation-building. Republic Act No. 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991 was signed into law on Oct. 10, 1991.

Local Government Day is also observed every 10th of October. —Marielle Medina
