2 Pinoys win in Pacquiao-Marquez undercard
WELTERWEIGHT Dennis Laurente of the Elorde Stable of Paranaque City scored a seventh round knockout win over Ayi Bruce of Ghana in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez III at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Laurente finished off his foe 57 seconds through the seventh round to score his 22nd knockout and improve to 42-4-5 (win-loss-draw).
Bruce, on the other hand, suffered his fifth loss. He has 20 wins, 12 by KO.
Fernando Lumacad of General Santos City scored knockdowns in rounds two and five and cruised to a unanimous decision win over Joseph Rios of Texas after eight rounds.
The scorecards read 77-73, 77-74 and 78-72 for the Filipino, who now holds a 25-3-3 record with 11 KOs. Rios dropped to 10-6-1 with 4 KOs. /correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
