Pantatan Festival
The growing industry of “pantat,” or catfish, is celebrated in Barangay Mintal in Davao City, Davao del Sur province. The festival starts with a motorcade and is followed by a feast featuring different catfish dishes.
Sept. 24 to 29
Diyandi Festival and Feast of St. Michael the Archangel
Article continues after this advertisementA religious festival in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte province, that culminates with the feast day of the city’s patron, St. Michael the Archangel, on Sept. 29. Events include the San Miguel Comedia, a religious musical, a novena that started on Sept. 20 with “pagpakanaug,” or the ritual transfer of St. Michael’s image, and “pamukaw,” or the early dawn parade.

Sinu-og Estokada Festival
The battle between good and evil is the main theme of the festival in the town of Jagna, Bohol province. Students dressed as good or rebellious angels join in the street dancing competition that features “estokada” or fencing in their movements.
Angel Festival
A religious celebration in San Rafael, Bulacan province, that pays homage to the town’s patron, St. Raphael the Archangel. A parade and street dancing contest participated in by students in angel costumes are also held.
