Police pursue bus robbers
MANILA, Philippines—Police were pursuing on Saturday four armed men who pulled off a robbery aboard a moving bus on Edsa in Quezon City with one even firing a shot after getting off the vehicle.
The robbers were armed with .45-caliber pistols and knives, according to Superintendent Audie Madrideo, Masambong police station commander.
The robbers boarded a Malanday Metrolink bus with plate number TWH 461 in the Munoz area on Edsa shortly before 7 a.m., according to driver Ricky Carmeyan and conductor Domeng Manalo.
But as the bus approached the MRT North Avenue station in front of Philam Homes Subdivision, the four men declared the heist and proceeded to divest the passengers of their valuables.
A female passenger told police that she was pistol-whipped by one of the robbers, who turned out to be on the rogues’ gallery at the Kamuning police station.
The suspect was initially identified as a certain Jomar, who has pending robbery cases.
Article continues after this advertisementBased on the complaint filed with the police, the robbers took a cellular phone, a Samsung Galaxy tablet and some cash from the passengers.
The robbers then got off the bus upon reaching the Kamuning area, with one of them firing a warning shot as he disembarked with their loot.
