BATANGAS CITY—A columnist for tabloids Abante and Tonite and his companion were wounded in a shooting perpetrated by unidentified gunmen in Batangas City Wednesday night, police said Thursday.

Senior Inspector Hazel Luma-Ang, Batangas police information officer, said the victims, columnist Crisenciano Ibon, 65, and Gerry Ebreo, were watching television at the house of one Mary Mendoza in Barangay (village) Kumintang Ilaya when they were shot at by the suspects at around 8:30 p.m.

Ibon was brought to Camillus Hospital while Ebreo was at Batangas Medical Center, both in Batangas City, for treatment.

The incident is still under investigation by police.
