Oriental Mindoro town councilor nabbed transporting hot logs

CITY OF CALAPAN – A councilor of Pola town in Oriental Mindoro province was arrested after the truck he was on board transporting undocumented coconut lumber at the Calapan Port was intercepted by police Sunday night, police said Monday.

Police said cops and the Philippine Coast Guard intercepted an Isuzu Forward truck loaded with more or less 8,000 board feet of undocumented coco lumber amounting to P70,000 pesos at about 8:30 p.m. in Barangay (village) San Antonio in this city.

This truckload of hot logs was intercepted by
police in Calapan City port. INQUIRER SOUTHERN LUZON

Police arrested Ancieto Villanueva, 53, municipal councilor of Pola and truck driver John Denver Atienza, 29, also a resident of Pola.

Police are still investigating Villanueva’s involvement in the transport of the illegally cut lumber. JE/rga
