NBP gang members surrender drugs, contrabands
A group of inmates from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) have surrendered illegal drugs and other contrabands to authorities from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
BuCor Chief Benjamin Delos Santos on Tuesday said the items were turned over following a dialogue with the NBP’s gang leaders last Saturday.
Turned over by the Sigue-Sigue Sputik gang who occupies quadrant three of NBP’s Maximum Security compound include six large plastic sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu; 30 small sachets of shabu; two ice picks; and a cellular phone.
The turnover of contrabands came at the heels of Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II’s admission that there is a resurgence of illegal drug trade inside the national penitentiary. JPV
