/ 03:00 AM July 03, 2017

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) was created by virtue of Commonwealth Act No. 732 enacted on July 3, 1946.

It was reorganized to strengthen the foreign service of the Philippines through Republic Act (RA) No. 708 signed on June 5, 1952.

The department was reorganized again in 1991 by virtue of RA 7157 and the Career Minister Eligibility Examination was instituted as a requirement for the promotion of senior foreign service officers to the rank of career ministers.

The DFA’s main office is on Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
