/ 01:33 AM June 30, 2017

A live-in couple were arrested on Wednesday in a drug sting in Quezon City, yielding over P300,000 worth of illegal drugs.

Members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested Roberto Bernales, 38, and Sarah Jane Malate, 26, in a condominium unit on Panay Avenue, Barangay South Triangle.

Around 9:45 p.m., personnel of the QCPD’s drug enforcement unit conducted a buybust operation against the couple, who were found selling seven sachets of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and several drug paraphernalia.

Chief Insp. Ferdinand Mendoza, chief of the antinarcotics team, said Bernales was arrested in 2014 on a drug-related charge but his case was dismissed last year.

Malate, meanwhile, was already a drug user when she met Bernales last year, the officer added.
