Vizcaya town treasurer loses gun, P30k to Baguio thieves

BAGUIO CITY — The municipal treasurer of Kayapa town in Nueva Vizcaya lost a gun and P30,000 to thieves at the parking lot of a Baguio restaurant on Sunday night (May 7), the Cordillera police said.

The cash and a government-issued .45-pistol were inside a black sling bag which was taken from the van of 55-year-old John Benedict Noriega Castro.

He parked there at 7:35 p.m. to attend a family dinner at the Pamana Restaurant along Session Road. He discovered his bag missing at 8:35 p.m.

There were so signs of forcible entry, the Baguio police said.

The bag also contained Castro’s driver’s license, his bank and identification cards as well as other documents.  SFM/rga
