He’s not filming any movie or TV show right now, so he doesn’t need this kind of publicity. During a long hiatus in his show biz career, the actor has found himself in the news again for failure to pay taxes.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue has filed a tax complaint against him and his production company, R Gutz Production Corp., in the Department of Justice.
The agency said that the actor’s company underdeclared P39.6 million in sales.
Documents showed that a summary of purchases from clients declared sales amounting to P39.915 million, but the company declared only P311,111 in its tax returns.
The BIR has thus assessed the actor and his company’s tax liabilities at P27.45 million in income taxes and P11.12 million in VAT.
The agency also found that the company did not file an income tax return for 2012. Gutierrez, who was informed of the findings in 2014 and twice this year, would respond to the complaint in due time, his lawyer said.
