10 illegal fishers nabbed in Tayabas Bay

LUCENA CITY – Police arrested 10 suspected illegal fishers in the  territorial sea waters of Agdangan and Unisan towns off Tayabas Bay on Wednesday, police said Thursday.

Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police provincial director, said Agdangan policemen led by the town police chief, Senior Insp. Rodolfo Borromeo, caught suspects Danilo Villas, Dines Villas and Jaypee Roxas using explosives while fishing around 10 a.m.

A member of the police sea patrol, Danilo Larita Jr., a fish examiner of the Bureau of Fishery and Aquatic Resources, checked out the catch of the suspects and found out that more than two kilos of the assorted fish were caught with the use of explosives.

In nearby Unisan town, police caught suspects Thomas Garcia, Fernando  Garcia, Rowel Hernandez, Alvino Comia, Marcelino Garcia, Mc Panaligan and Jayson Tribo aboard two fishing boats engaged in illegal fishing on Wednesday morning.

Police said the suspects, all residents of Barangay Castañas in Sariaya town, were caught fishing without the necessary permits from the local government of Unisan.   SFM
