/ 01:30 AM March 05, 2017

A Korean national was found dead in his Pasay City condo unit Friday morning.

Before his death, Baek Seung-ryeong, 41, had lost P3 million playing baccarat in a casino and “joked” that he would kill himself if he would lose some more, according to a friend.

In a statement to the police, Han Gile, Baek’s compatriot, said his friend returned to his unit at Bay Garden condominium from City of Dreams casino around 5 a.m. on Friday and told him that he had lost another P1 million.

About an hour and a half later, Baek was found dead in one of the rooms, with a necktie looped around his neck and tied to a cabinet, according to an affidavit executed by his stay-in helper, Mirla Vivas.

The victim was last seen alive drinking beer inside the unit.

Police investigators found no other external injuries on Baek’s body except for ligature marks.

His remains were brought to Veronica Funeral Homes for autopsy.
