Suspected NPA rebels abduct 1, burn equipment in Bukidnon
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Two hundred armed men believed to be New People’s Army rebels abducted one person and burned several pieces of equipment at a checkpoint the rebels had put up in Barangay Tikalaan in Talakag, Bukidnon on Thursday, police said.
Police identified the abducted victim as a Lito Atoy, who was driving a motorcycle. Police are still verifying a report that another person on another motorcycle was killed. The rebels, the police said, also seized the two motorcycles the victims were driving.
In the initial police report, some of the 200 armed men, who wore baseball caps with NBI markings, arrived at the village onboard a white L300 van while the others, on truck. They immediately put up a checkpoint and flagged down vehicles.
The attackers burned a mixer, a backhoe, a dump truck and a generator set owned by a construction firm before fleeing with Atoy. SFM
