A civil engineer was shot and wounded by a lone gunman inside a parking lot in Barangay  Manggahan, Pasig City, on Thursday morning.

Joshua Batac, 38, was at the parking lot of the Medium Rise Housing-National Housing Authority office on Kaginhawaan Street around 7:10 a.m. when he was shot, according to a report submitted to Senior Supt. Orlando Yebra Jr.,  Pasig police chief.

Yebra said Batac was about to get inside his car when a man came out of nowhere and shot him in the neck. Batac, however, still managed to walk toward the gate where security guard Rolando Santos was stationed to ask for help.

The suspect, Yebra said, also tried to shoot the guard who managed to run for cover.  The gunman fled toward Imelda Avenue on a motorcycle while Batac was rushed to a hospital where he was declared in stable condition.

Senior Insp. Roberto Garcia, chief of the Pasig City police station investigation unit, said the attempt on Batac’s life may have been carried out by some workers he had fired in the past over their poor performance. The victim, however, was not able to recognize his shooter, Garcia added. TVJ
