Car owner loses 500K in cash, jewelry to thieves in Pasay
More than half a million worth of items, including expensive jewelry, were stolen from a car by thieves in Pasay City on Wednesday.
Rico Uy, a resident of Pasig City, told the police that he parked his vehicle in front of Spinster Trading on Edsa-Pasay around 3:30 p.m. to inquire about LED lights. An hour later, he was approached by a man who told him that someone had broken one of his car windows.
According to the report of case investigators PO3 Alfredo Aquino Jr. and PO2 Elvin Olmedilo, Uy said he lost his black sling bag containing a Rolex watch worth P500,000; a diamond gold ring valued at P50,000; around P5,000 in cash aside from passport and other documents.
The store security guard, Elmer Bilan, said he noticed two men roaming around the area on a motorcycle, prompting him to take down its license plate. He told the investigators, however, that he did not witness the theft as he was preoccupied with his other tasks.
Upon verification with the Land Transportation Office, the motorcycle owner was identified as a resident of Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.
The police said they would also review the footage taken by a closed-circuit television area in the area to help them identify the suspects.
