Woman arrested, P500,000 worth of shabu seized at checkpoint

COTABATO CITY – Police in Maguindanao arrested a 35-year-old woman at a police checkpoint when it was found out she was carrying some P500,00 worth of suspected shabu.

Senior Inspector Reggie Abellera, the police chief of Datu Anggal Midtimbang town, said on Friday that Meriam Talusan yielded 150 grams of suspected shabu when frisked at the checkpoint on Thursday. She concealed the shabu beneath an adult diaper she wore.

Abellera said prior to the arrest, the police had received information the particular suspect was transporting illegal drugs from Barangay Talitay.

The text messages on Talusan’s mobile phone also resulted in the arrest of Tarhata Alon, 30, who was the intended recipient of the shabu, he said.

Alon was collared in Barangay Kamasi in Ampatuan town, also in Maguindanao, where she waited for Talusan./rga
