‘Brgy officials’ allowances to be released in Dec.’
Cebu City barangay officials would finally receive the cash allowance that Mayor Michael Rama promised them on the first week of December.
But Rama warned that he was only certain to release four months’ worth of allowances, computed starting September when the City Council passed Supplemental Budget 2, which included the appropriation of P29 million for the purpose.
“Daghan ang nangutana ug maka-retroact ba ta (to also include allowances for the months of January to August). Aron dili ta mapareho sa spa (controversy of the city council), ato usa ipangutana sa COA,” Rama said in a gathering with barangay officials held at the social hall of the legislative building yesterday morning.
The mayor called the meeting to discuss several concerns, which included the release of their allowances and preparations for the city’s diamond charter anniversary next year.
Rama sought the barangay officials’ help in the city’s search for 75 families who have made significant contributions to the city’s growth and development and who would be recognized during the city’s 75th Charter Day celebration in February 2012.
An P18-million budget was proposed for the celebration.
